16th April 2022 is the birthday of Lord Hanuman. Born on a full moon day in the lunar month of Chaitra just before the rise of the sun, Lord Hanuman as everyone knows is the monkey god and as powerful, he is, he is also an ardent devotee of Lord Rama and Sita.He is the Son of Vayu, and is believed to have swallowed the Sun as a child. After much cajoling and pleading by the Devas, he decided to release the Sun.

Though everyone is aware, Ramayana is all about Rama and Sita, Lord Hanuman after he makes his presence felt in the Ramayana, steals many a show with his devotion, antics, superior muscle power and single focused dedication to completing a set goal.

As per the Hindu calendar, Hanuman Jayanti falls in the month of Chaitra. Elders and astrologists always recommend reading theHanuman Chalisa to gain strength while facing difficulties. Incidentally, the Hanuman Chalisa was written by the eminent poet, Tulsidas who also wrote his version of Ramayana which is quite popular.

Why is Hanuman Jayanti celebrated

Lord Hanuman has moved mountains, flew across the Ocean, single handedly ensured the almighty Ravana knows his reign is over once HIS Lord Rama marches into Lanka. He also had beaten the all-powerful Bhima without revealing his true self.

An incarnation of Lord Shiva, he represents strength, determination and loyalty and has vowed to his devotees that he will always be with them whenever they utter his name. Lord Hanuman possesses unmatched strength, proves his loyalty to Lord Rama and has remained faithful. Though powerful, he bows down with humility and helps those in need.

Why should one be a Hanuman in our daily lives

Like the Hero in the movie, Bahubali, one should prove their strength not with the weak but, always with an equal. One should showcase his wisdom only when required and remain patient at all times. These characteristics are derived from Lord Hanuman as he has time and again shown his integrity, valor, intelligence, strength, patience, and wisdom.

A “BhudhimatamVarishtham” himself, he shows every human has limitless power residing inside oneself but remains untapped. One who follows the path of Lord Hanuman will reach their goal with ease and can attain Moksha at the feet of Lord Rama with ease.

As a person who is committed to spirituality and steeped deeply in the traditions and rituals of India, I PushpamAppalanaidu on Hanuman Jayanti start the day with chanting the name of Lord Hanuman, performing pujas and aarti and visiting temples praying for Lord Hanuman to give strength to overcome difficulties and obstacles one faces in everyday life.
